Insider's Notes from the Comfort tour
The following is an excerpt from an email I received from Ray Lundrigan. His band opened for Failure
during the Comfort tour. Ray also took and contributed the accompanying photo of the band.
"The band I was in opened for Failure in Vegas. We were a three-piece by
the name of Scrubs with a lot of Firehose influence. It was at the Huntridge
Theatre and Mary's Danish were headlining. Unfortunately we didn't get to
say more than 10 words to the band because Ken was not in the greatest mood
because of equipment problems. I remember they opened with Submission and
closed with Screen Man. There weren't that many people there either. It was
an 800 seater and only a couple hundred showed which made for a lot of
standing room... We were supposed to do another show with them at a place called
Club Rock but they canceled at the last minute due to lack of ticket sales.
Only about 75 tickets were sold. We flyered that whole damn town but not too
many people knew who they were at that time. They came back again on the
next tour and I met Kellii... He
was really nice and invited us to go "party" with the band but we missed the
van... Since then, we've seen them seven or eight times as both
headliners and openers throughout California.
"I attached a JPEG (below) from the Whisky show in 1997 that I was able to sneak a
camera into. It's funny because the pictures you've probably seen from Mike
Lin are from the same show. We actually met at a previous Failure show,
when they opened for Tool at the Glass House which was Tool's first show off
the Aenema tour."
